Word comes by way of PS Blog, revealing that the deal will allow players to gain “first access to earn select online content,” though the post stops short of detailing the specifics of the arrangement. Could it be as trivial as in-game items? Or something more tangible like, say, early access?

News comes on the heels of yesterday’s RDR2 reveal trailer, beckoning players back to the Wild West. You can find the sun-kissed footage up above which, according to Sony, was captured on a standard PlayStation 4. Will Rockstar’s sequel tout Pro enhancements come 2017? Again, time will tell.

Per PS Blog:

Hand crafted to take full advantage of PS4, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

We are pleased to announce that PS4 players get first access to earn select online content in the vast open world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

If you’re eager to circle back and play the 2010 original – itself a sequel to Red Dead Revolver – you’ll be pleased to hear that Red Dead Redemption will be moseying onto Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming service in the coming months. Stay tuned for more details on that one and remember, PS Now is also available via PC, which offers up a neat workaround considering Rockstar never released a port, much to the dismay of fans.

Red Dead Redemption 2, meanwhile, is earmarked for launch across PS4 and Xbox One next fall. It’s expected to sell gangbusters, according to retail analysts, with reports claiming that Rockstar’s Western sequel has the ability to move upwards of 12 million units in 2017.
