Although many already considered Zoe Saldana a shoo-in for Avengers: Infinity War, the actress has now confirmed Gamora’s involvement in the 2018 event movie.

Chatting to MTV News, the Guardians star admitted that it’s still fairly early on in development – Infinity War has been in active production for around two months now – and she’s yet to lay eyes on the actual screenplay. What’s more, Saldana doesn’t specify the extent of Gamora’s involvement, but it’s safe to assume her inclusion means that Joe and Anthony Russo’s event movie will indeed make room for Star-Lord, Drax, Groot and Rocket as expected.

Stay tuned for more on that front, but for now, here’s the actress touching base on Gamora’s future and the long hours in the make-up chair that await.

“I don’t know when they’re gonna let me read it. I mean, I’m not looking forward to the five hours of green make-up, but every time I finally arrive on set I feel so happy and lucky to be there.”

Elsewhere on the Infinity War news cycle, MCUExchange relayed a report from Scottish tabloid Daily Record that suggests Liv Tyler, who last appeared as Bruce Banner’s love interest in The Incredible Hulk almost a decade ago, will reprise her part come 2018. Take from that what you will, but it’s no secret that Marvel has started to slowly dovetail the 2008 solo movie into its overarching universe, most notably through the addition of William Hurt’s General Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Civil War. Will Tyler have a role to play in Joe and Anthony Russo’s team-up movie, this time falling for Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce as opposed to Edward Norton’s? Time will tell.

Avengers: Infinity War is booked in for May 4, 2018 and may well herald an appearance from Captain Marvel. Meanwhile, the fourth Avengers movie once titled Infinity War – Part 2 is slated for May 3, 2019. Next up for Saldana – and indeed the MCU itself – is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is on course to hit theaters replete with Awesome Mix Vol. 2 on May 5.
