Reign Of The Cyborg Supermen Continues In Supergirl #5

It’s arguable that there’s never been a better time to be a fan of Supergirl. Whether it be her weekly adventures on the hit CW show or in the recent comic books she is headlining, the Maiden of Might has truly entered a Golden Age of her own.

A lot of the credit goes to the creative team. Steve Orlando consistently hits home runs and it’s no wonder as to why his star is rising, leading DC to place him at the helm of the upcoming Justice League of America series. In addition to his talents, Brian Ching’s unique visual style puts a distinctive stamp on the legacy of the character and could perhaps one day be referred to as “definitive.”

Something else that I admire about this relaunched series is that it incorporates similar elements seen in the TV show – the DEO, Danvers family, and Cat Grant, to name a few – but in no way feels like a rehash. One fine example is the inclusion of Cyborg Superman, who in this case is her father, Zor-El, as opposed to Hank Henshaw, whom the TV show has opted to utilize.

Supergirl #5 arrives in comic shops this Wednesday, January 11. For more information regarding it, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

“REIGN OF THE CYBORG SUPERMEN” part five! As National City becomes a war zone, Cyborg Superman’s plan to resurrect Argo City reaches its deadly final phase: rain Argo City itself down upon the earth! Supergirl is all that stands in the way of total destruction—but with the clock ticking and the stakes rising she’ll need more than just brute force. She’ll need the help of…Cat Grant?
