Cryptic Video Spurs On Daft Punk 2017 Tour Rumors

In what's just the latest in a persistent series of rumors, a cryptic video is spurring on speculation that Daft Punk will be revived as a touring act in 2017. Last fall, the robotic duo were "revealed" as headliners on a supposed lineup poster for Lollapalooza Chile, followed by a cryptic website that sent fans into a frenzy. Despite denial from sources close the group that they'll tour this year, the rumors continue with the recent discovery of a mysterious video.

A video that was originally uploaded on January 1st has been making the rounds on the EDM blogosphere and is reigniting the fervent speculation. Uploaded by an unknown YouTube user by the name 4162016211411 (which is supposedly code for Daft Punk), the short clip is titled Alive 2017 and features a stylized representation of the famous pyramid stage from the Alive tour, before ending with the Daft Punk logo.

Of course, there’s more to it than just that. The video description is a seemingly random series of eight digit numbers, which have been decoded as representing various major cities around the world. Naturally, many fans see this as a precursor to an Alive tour announcement for 2017.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether the mysterious video is legitimate or not. We’ll just have to wait and see if the fabled Daft Punk 2017 tour will pan out, but if the video is a hoax, it’s certainly a very clever one.
