Saviour or monster? Guardian or vigilante? These are just some of the questions raised in the inspired story trailer for Injustice 2, NetherRealm’s superhero brawler pegged for release in May.

Entitled “The Lines are Redrawn,” the video showcases the fallout from Gods Among Us, when a grief-crazed Superman brought society to its knees. Leave it to the Caped Crusader, then, to restore some semblance of order to the world. Standing in his way are those costumed heroes who swore allegiance to the Man of Steel and his tyrannical regime in the first place, which essentially opens up a power vacuum for the interstellar nightmare known to you, I and the DC faithful as Brainiac. You’ll be able to get a glimpse of the iconic big bad in action via the trailer above, which also confirms that Darkseid – arguably one of the biggest villains in the DC vault – will be available to those who pre-order Injustice 2 for either PS4 or Xbox One.

Aside from Bats and Superman, other characters on the roster include Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, Blue Beetle, and Wonder Woman. Task Force X alum Harley Quinn and Deadshot will also feature, after the latter cropped up for a cameo appearance in the original Injustice game.

Injustice 2 will see friends become enemies – and vice versa – when NetherRealm’s fighting sequel pummels its way onto PS4 and Xbox One on May 16. Expect further details to surface as we inch closer to release, but for now, tell us, what are your early impressions of NetherRealm’s follow-up? Sound off in the usual place with your thoughts!
