In case you missed the opportunity to play either of last year’s trial demos for Nioh, developer Team Ninja is giving you one last chance to try its enticing blend of action, exploration and role-playing elements with a final taster of what’s to come next month. Available to pre-load right now via the PlayStation Store, the aptly-named Last Chance Trial will be available to play from January 21-22, and will offer gameplay similar to that which was shown at last year’s PlayStation Experience event.

Assuming you can rise fo the challenge on offer in the demo, you’ll be on the receiving end of a few neat rewards that can be carried over to the full game. Successfully completing the main mission will award the Ogress Headgear, while those that go the extra mile and complete the Twilight Mission (harder versions of existing stages), will be awarded the Mark of the Conqueror and Mark of the Strong, both of which were previously exclusive to last year’s Alpha and Beta tests, respectively. As a forewarning, don’t delete your save data from the Last Chance Trial – you’ll need it to migrate your rewards come February.

Nioh releases exclusively for PlayStation 4 on February 8 and, aside from promising a meaty single-player story for players to sink their teeth into, Team Ninja confirmed yesterday that a dedicated PvP mode will be available for free as part of an update post-launch. If you’re not particularly bothered about spoilers, see below for over an hour’s worth of gameplay footage, courtesy of Sony.
