New Trailer For DC’s Powerless Features Some Big Comic Book References

Powerless was originally envisioned as a workplace comedy revolving around employees of an insurance company dealing with the mess caused by super-powered battles. It's a premise not all that different to Marvel and ABC's planned Damage Control series, and that could explain why the show has now been completely rebooted ahead of its premiere next month.

Given something of a wacky makeover, Powerless now looks set to focus on Wayne Security, a company which creates gadgets for normal people looking to protect themselves from the chaos caused by the likes of Green Lantern battling Starro – which is something we actually catch a glimpse of in this latest trailer.

It remains to be seen whether or not this change in direction will pay off for DC Entertainment and NBC, but they’re certainly not holding back when it comes to referencing the comic books. Bruce Wayne gets a mention from pretty much everyone here, while there are also significant nods to Superman and Wonder Woman as well. We highly doubt that any of these iconic heroes will ever actually show up on the series, but the references are still appreciated nonetheless.
