When we last saw Rick Grimes and co. in the closing moments of the midseason finale of The Walking Dead, they had decided to finally rally the troops and stand up to Negan and his army of Saviors – but a recent “All-Out War” synopsis for the final batch of season 7 episodes made it very clear that this was not going to be an easy task.
Now, as the midseason premiere draws closer, AMC has released some new promotional stills featuring several of the show’s principal characters. The pics don’t seem particularly exciting or revealing at first glance, but on closer examination we might be able to glean a few things from them. Perhaps the most intriguing one is the full version of a cropped image we saw last night, which gives us a look at a new community that will presumably join Rick in the inevitable battle to come.
Showrunner Scott M. Gimple suggests to EW that the woman with her back to us is going to be a major player in the second half of the season, and it also sounds like a well-known actress will be portraying her.
I’m just going to say that Rick is going to meet this person and/or persons pretty quickly. The answers are just around the heap. I cannot wait for people to meet this character and to see this actor. There is some formidable fun coming up.
A few months back, Maria Bello revealed that she’d be playing a role in a future episode – could this be her, perhaps? You’ll have to tune in to AMC on February 12 for the sure to be eventful return of The Walking Dead to find out.
