Marvel Recognized By YALSA As Having Some Of The Best Reads For Young Adults

With superheroes dominating the box office and ruling the airwaves these days, it comes as no surprise that a fair percentage of people being exposed to such characters via live action offerings will become curious and check out the source material. What may intimidate them, however, is where to start reading due to years of comic book continuity having been piled up.

With superheroes dominating the box office and ruling the airwaves these days, it comes as no surprise that a fair percentage of people being exposed to such characters via live action offerings will become curious and check out the source material. What may intimidate them, however, is where to start reading due to years of comic book continuity having been piled up.

Something I’ve often done is recommend that people check out their local libraries, where they can sample a multitude of definitive graphic novels for free. And, should you elect to do so, you’ll likely find one of several Marvel series to be recently recognized by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) such as Star Wars, All-New Wolverine or The Vision.

That’s right, YALSA have added 17 Marvel graphic novels to this year’s list of Great Graphic Novels for Teens. Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel had this to say regarding the unprecedented achievement:

“It is both energizing and humbling to have so many Marvel titles included in this year’s list. From Star Wars to Black Panther to The Vision and beyond, their selections provide a little something for everyone. With so many fantastic titles released in last year from publishers across the industry, we’re honored to be recognized by YALSA yet again.”

In case you were wondering, the Marvel titles recognized are as follows:

ALL-NEW WOLVERINE VOL. 1: THE FOUR SISTERS – Tom Taylor/David Lopez

BLACK PANTHER: A NATION UNDER OUR FEET BOOK 1 – Ta-Nehisi Coates/Brian Stelfreeze

CAPTAIN MARVEL VOL. 1: RISE OF ALPHA FLIGHT – Michele Fazekas/Tara Butters/Kris Anka/Felipe Smith

DARTH VADER VOL. 1: VADER – Kieron Gillen/Salvador Larroca
