The Legion Of Doom Emerge In Super Powers #4

Although the Justice League attract tons of readers whenever a new issue detailing their latest exploits hits stands, it’s probably safe to say that older readers are the target audience. As it turns out, the younger crowd (and the young at heart) have an alternative in the form of Super Powers.

Brought to us by the acclaimed team of Franco and Art Baltazar, who were responsible for such series as Tiny Titans and Itty Bitty Hellboy, this six-issue miniseries offers a surprisingly fresh take on some of DC’s most iconic heroes and is accessible to all ages.

Surprisingly enough, there’s actually quite a bit of depth to be witnessed in this book. As opposed to just having the heroes foiling simplistic villainous plots, the creative team mixes it up by tying Brainiac to Superman’s family in ways that I personally haven’t read before. Having said that, I think curious older readers will find something to enjoy as well if they have a few extra bucks to spend this week.

The added appeal of the latest issue is no doubt the involvement of the Legion of Doom. And unlike what can currently be seen on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the classic lineup is represented here, featuring the likes of Lex Luthor, Bizarro, Black Manta, Sinestro and others.

Super Powers #4 arrives in comic shops this Wednesday, February 1. In the meantime, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

An evil menace stirs the sea dwellers of the Pacific Ocean as an angry Black Manta pays a visit to the evil genius Lex Luthor. Whatever underwater evil is being planned, Aquaman and his Super Friends can save the day! Or can they? Lex welcomes the return of his Legion of Doom!
