Now that the Winchesters have escaped from prison, Supernatural is back to business as usual. Well, that is if Dean is able to keep his memory intact for long.
In next week’s episode, “Regarding Dean,” it seems that his memory is gradually being wiped due to having been hit by a powerful spell. Aside from seeing one of his greatest frenemies, Rowena, lending a helping hand and booping his nose, this looks like it may end up being one of the more humorous episodes the series has come to be appreciated for. Okay, maybe not “Changing Channels” levels of zaniness, but maybe something more comparable to a balance found by “The Real Ghostbusters.”
While it does look like we’re certainly in for a treat and the show is more than enjoyable week to week, we’re hoping it will soon become clearer as to what current showrunners Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer’s big picture may be. Yes, they understandably went smaller this year after that grandiose story involving Amara and Chuck concluded, but it remains unclear exactly whom the big bad is.
Perhaps it’s the British Men of Letters or Lucifer’s baby (odds are that one will be explored further in season 13), but with the Devil himself now being back in his cage, we can’t help but notice that the current season seemingly lacks the focus of previous offerings.
