Those of you out there who followed Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist before their respective turns as Barry Allen and Kara Zor-El are fully aware of the fact that both happen to be Glee alums. Not only that, but many other actors who make up the Arrowverse actually have a background in music and were dying for a project such as this to come to fruition.

In fact, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said they’ve “always talked about doing it, from the very beginning, more in a joking way.” What’s more is that he reportedly hopes that this arc gets a sequel at some point.

While that’s a very real possibility, I think it’s important that the powers that be not only factor in overnight ratings for the crossover, but also read fan reactions online. It stands to reason that some Arrowverse fans loved Glee, but I can say that I’ve seen some viewers express their bewilderment on social media. In other words, people like seeing their favorite superheroes team up, but these circumstances may not exactly be the ones they were clamoring for.

For more information regarding “Duet,” check out the official synopsis below:

DARREN CRISS (“GLEE”) GUEST STARS AS THE MUSIC MEISTER IN THE FLASH AND SUPERGIRL MUSICAL CROSSOVER – Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her.

However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.

Supergirl is set to kickoff things with a prologue of sorts on Monday, March 20, with The Flash serving as the true crossover on Tuesday, March 21 on The CW.
