Is Fox’s X-Men TV Show Called Gifted?

e to be a fan of all things mutants. Though Fox's X-Men franchise looked to be in rough shape following Apocalypse, it's bounced back in a big way recently. James Mangold's stunning Logan is still wow'ing audiences around the world, and Legion is taking the small screen by storm. It’s definitely not a bad time to be a fan of all things mutants. Though Fox’s X-Men franchise looked to be in rough shape following Apocalypse, it’s bounced back in a big way recently. James Mangold’s stunning Logan is still wow’ing audiences around the world, and Legion is taking the small screen by storm. Aside from those, there are also a number of upcoming efforts to look forward to, like Deadpool 2 and X-Force, among others. Suffice it to say, the mutants are stronger than ever right now.

One project that’s quickly been gathering buzz is the studio’s untitled X-Men TV show from Matt Nix, which has Bryan Singer set to direct the pilot. It’s been on a bit of a casting spree lately and with all the roles now filled, it appears as if production is about to fire up. We know this because franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner Tweeted out a photo earlier this week depicting a cast reading.

What’s most intriguing about her post though is that she refers to the show as Gifted. This could be a working title, but it could also be what Fox is calling the new series. At this point, it’s unclear, but you can check out the photo for yourself below and see what you make of it.

So, it doesn’t reveal a whole lot, but Gifted would definitely make sense if it is indeed the title. We’ll have to wait on confirmation of that, but in the meantime, it’s nice to see the entire cast here all together in one shot. The most recent addition is, of course, Amy Acker as Kate Stewart, a “woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks.”

If you’ve been keeping track of Fox’s casting spree hitherto, you’ll know that’s the motherly anchor of Matt Nix’s spinoff mutant story who, alongside Stephen Moyer’s character Reed, attempts to ward off a potential family crisis by gathering her erratic, superpowered children and hitting the road.

Pursued by a nefarious agency, their search for a safe haven leads them to an underground mutant colony, which houses such gifted individuals as Blink (Jamie Chung) and Eclipse (Sean Teale). Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham), meanwhile, signed on just this week to play Lauren, a wise-beyond-her-years young woman and a problem child for Reed and Kate.

We’ll let you know when and if we hear more about Gifted, but until then, drop us a comment down below with your thoughts on how Fox’s latest X-Men endeavour is coming together.
