Not long ago, Marvel dropped a simple, enigmatic teaser for something called Generations. At the time, no specifics were given, but it got everybody talking due to it depicting multiple versions of superheroes hanging out and also because it was painted by the incomparable Alex Ross. Who doesn’t love his work, am I right?

Anyway, the House of Ideas have finally pulled back the curtain on the project that will – get this – unite those who have taken up the guise of various heroes both past and present, just as the artwork hinted. I know, it all seems a bit confusing and will likely remain that way until this 10-issue series hits stands this July.

As of now, we know which heroes will join forces, along with the writers who will craft these stories. Artists have still yet to be named, but here’s the list made available:

  • Iron Man (Tony Stark and Riri Williams) – written by Brian Michael Bendis
  • Spider-Man (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) – Brian Michael Bendis
  • Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan) – G. Willow Wilson
  • Thor (Odinson and Jane Foster) – Jason Aaron
  • Hawkeye (Clint Barton and Kate Bishop) – Kelly Thompson
  • Hulk (Bruce Banner and Amadeus Cho) – Greg Pak
  • Jean Grey (young and older) – Dennis Hopeless
  • Wolverine (Logan and X23) – Tom Taylor
  • Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell and Carol Danvers) – Margie Stohl
  • Captain America (Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson) – Nick Spencer

Surprisingly, all this will occur within Marvel continuity proper as editor-in-chief Axel Alonso told ABC News:

“These stories do happen, they really count. They really matter. This isn’t some alternate reality story or some time-travel story. I wish I could tell you the mechanism [to bring these characters back], but that’s also a bit of a spoiler.”

Stay tuned as more information regarding Generations will no doubt surface between now and July. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on some artwork showing Thors Jane Foster and Odinson heading into battle below.
