First Look At Sense8 Season 2: “This Is Not A Game, This Is A War”

The Sensates have been labeled a threat to secrecy in the first-look trailer for Sense8 season 2. All 10 episodes will hit Netflix on May 5th.

Every once in a while, a Netflix original series comes along with enough mystery and intrigue to warrant a TV marathon. Think of how Stranger Things or The OA had subscribers gobbling up episodes like they were going out of fashion and you’ll begin to get a sense of how certain series thrive on the platform.

Whether intentional or not, some shows are simply made to be binged, and in 2015 the one series to hook in viewers was Sense8, the Wachowskis’ multi-faceted TV show that followed eight distinct characters scattered across the planet. Those figures – or Sensates – inexplicably develop an ability to communicate with one another, though it’s this power that renders them “a threat to secrecy.” At least that’s according to the nefarious organization on their tails, and in today’s first-look trailer at Sense8 season 2, we begin to see those “dark forces” step out of the shadows.

At one point, we see Mr. Whispers (Terrence Mann) declare that, “this is not a game, this is a war,” which can only portend all sorts of trouble for our leading protagonists.

Sense8 is centered around eight characters, from different parts of the world, who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by the experience. They become connected, able to see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, with access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must the eight adapt to this new ability and to each other, they must figure out why their lives are now in jeopardy. In Season 2, dark forces continue to track the cluster of eight connected characters. The sensates will learn more about BPO, the secret organization searching for their cluster and others like them, and will work to protect themselves from this organization that is out to hunt and kill them.

“We are all worth fighting for.” Comprised of 10 episodes in total, the second season of Sense8 will bow via Netflix on May 5th. If you’ve yet to catch up with Lana and Lilly Wachowski’s mind-bending creation, the online streamer rolled out a Christmas Special that ought to sate your appetite for next month’s batch of episodes.
