In recent memory, Marvel has certainly done a fine job of reaching its fanbase in exciting new ways. First, there was the announcement that they were taking advantage of GeoTargeting in order to increase foot traffic in comic shops, with word that they’re commencing in-theater advertising this spring swiftly following. As for their next endeavor, well, it luckily arrived just in time for their latest major crossover event, Secret Empire.

Powered by Conversable, this new chatbot allows True Believers to interact with some of their favorite characters via Facebook Messenger and Twitter DM, effectively enriching their Secret Empire experience. This bold new strategy “leverages natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to engage users with an entirely unique adventure written by Eisner Award-winning author, Jim McCann,” with Spider-Man being the first hero on the block.

Julie Gerola, VP/GM Marketing & Digital Operations, had this to say:

“Marvel will always be on the forefront of exciting new ways for fans to experience the Marvel Universe. We are so excited to debut a brand new way for our fans to engage directly with some of the Marvel characters during the events of SECRET EMPIRE and have the added ability to have their local comic shop’s location sent directly to fans so that they can further explore the entire Marvel Universe.”

In addition to the aforementioned feature, you can also engage in quizzes and puzzles, receive exclusive first looks, and find comic shops nearest to you. And should you find such a shop, be sure to pick up a copy of Secret Empire #0 and check out our five-star review.
