Now that The Flash is returning in a matter of hours for the final stretch of its third season, it’s about time that we look forward to the season finale. And as the next four weeks will undoubtedly bring us details that’ll likely be juicier than the ones that preceded them, that doesn’t mean what we have to discuss today is no less interesting.
In fact, the folks over at TV Line were able to dig up some rather intriguing information. Now, before we go any further, I’ll say that we have two synopses to present, the first of which has erroneously been referred to by some as a description for this season’s penultimate episode. It’s not. What “Pre-finale” is referring to is that of the four episodes leading up to the finale.
Take a look for yourself and then I’ll elaborate:
PRE-FINALE: Barry travels to 2024 to find out Savitar’s identity, where he encounters future versions of himself as well as his Team Flash friends. Upon returning to the present, Barry & Co. meet a scientist (House‘s Anne Dudek) who may be the key to stopping Savitar, but they must — literally, and with great difficulty — fight to keep Killer Frost from getting to her first. Afterward, Caitlin’s icy alter ego makes an interesting proposal.
See? Why would episode 3×22 rehash the events occurring tonight as well as those set to air two weeks from now? It just wouldn’t make any sense. So, unless clip shows are making a comeback, my better judgment says something has been lost in translation.
As for the finale itself, well, expect to see the final boss fight with Savitar that we’re all looking forward to, along with a certain someone possibly breathing their last:
SEASON FINALE (MAY 23): After discovering Savitar’s true identity, Team Flash prepares for a final, epic battle with the God of Speed… while struggling with a major setback. Expect a season-ending cliffhanger that will leave viewers — and the heroes — questioning how they will move forward in Season 4.
The first two seasons certainly had huge cliffhangers of their own to boast, so it remains to be seen how this year’s intends to top them. But before the status quo encounters any possible changes, be sure to catch The Flash when it returns tonight on The CW.
