Hitting theatres on October 21, 2011 is Margin Call, yet another film set against the backdrop of the 2008 financial crisis. Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley, Jeremy Irons, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker and Paul Bettany star in the film which takes a look at an investment firm during a 24 hour period in the early stages of the crisis.

Margin Call has been doing a bit of festival touring lately and so far, it’s been receiving generally positive reviews. I’ve had my eye on the film for a while now and I’m thrilled to finally see a trailer.

I really enjoy films that deal with the topic of the 2008 economic meltdown as I find the whole thing to be quite interesting. Margin Call looks a bit similar to Too Big To Fail, which was a great film. It does however look at the crisis from a different point of view.

Unlike Too Big To Fail, this film focuses on just one company, rather than the entire country. It’s a bit of a different look but one that should still prove to be quite fascinating and wholly interesting. Plus, with that fantastic cast boasting names like Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons, this one has a ton of potential.

The 24 hour setting is kind of neat and it looks like it will add a real ‘thriller’ aspect to the film and the subject material itself is also rather scary and will likely hit home for many.

While the film may not appeal to the mainstream due to the topic, for those who are intrigued by the whole financial crisis, this one looks like a real treat.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Set in the high-stakes world of the financial industry, Margin Call is a thriller entangling the key players at an investment firm during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. Stars Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley, Simon Baker, Mary McDonnell, Demi Moore and Stanley Tucci. Written and directed by J.C. Chandor.
