It’s a big, big day for Anthony Ramos.

The up-and-coming star, who wowed in the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in Broadway hit Hamilton, has today climbed aboard both Godzilla: King of the Monsters and A Star is Born, Bradley Cooper’s music drama headed up by a true star and all-around industry icon in Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta). It’s a remake of William Wellman’s 1937 film of the same name, and we understand Eric Roth is the brains behind the screenplay. As for Ramos, he’s landed the part of Gaga’s best friend Ramon, an “aspiring dancer who is born to be in the spotlight.” Filming is underway now ahead of a theatrical release on September 28th of this year.

That’s the indie passion project; as for the blockbuster, Deadline’s scoop reveals that Ramos has boarded King of the Monsters to play Cpl. Mendoza, a member of the military force “who keeps calm and cool on the surface but whose bravery isn’t to be underestimated in battle.” Story details for Michael Dougherty’s 2019 creature feature are being kept locked away in the vaults of Monarch, the shady organization that underpins Legendary’s MonsterVerse, but previous reports have confirmed that the film’s cast will be comprised of Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), and Aisha Hinds.

Following in the colossal footsteps of Kong: Skull Island, Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the latest entry into Legendary’s MonsterVerse, and it’ll be with us on March 22, 2019. Those two creatures will share the screen the following year, assuming all things go according to plan, when Godzilla Vs. Kong roars into life.
