Fan-Made Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Poster Pays Tribute To Empire

Matt Ferguson has conjured up another spellbinding poster, and this time, it features a crossover between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Star Wars.

Anyone can save the galaxy once, apparently, but what about a second time? That’s the near-insurmountable task currently facing Star-Lord and Co. ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and artist Matt Ferguson has conjured up yet another spellbinding poster for James Gunn’s sequel that’s designed to pay tribute to Empire Strikes Back.

If you’ll recall, Ferguson produced a similarly striking, Star Wars-themed one-sheet in 2014, which took one of, if not the most iconic Star Wars shots in history and repurposed it to include Marvel’s dysfunctional family. Fast forward three years and change and the end result of today’s reveal is another deftly crafted slice of fan service – from the poses right down to the actual font of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Matt Ferguson has got this Empire tribute down to a T.

The artist/designer shared the stellar poster via Twitter, though there’s currently no mention if it’ll be made available as a print. Our advice? Keep your peepers peeled on Ferguson’s feed for any further announcements. He’ll likely need to get the go-ahead from Marvel, but given how fans took to his original Guardians/Star Wars crossover – not to mention the level of interest garnered by this new Vol. 2 poster – we’d be surprised if Matt Ferguson’s print wasn’t released online at some point in the future.

They’re the supporting players of Infinity War, but up first, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will reunite Star-Lord, Gamora, Baby Groot, Drax and Bradley Cooper’s wisecracking Rocket in time for May 5th. James Gunn’s sequel has already made its bow across a number of international markets – making a pretty penny in the process – so we’re intrigued to find out how the sequel fares on home turf.
