Fox’s X-Men cinematic universe is slowly but surely starting to come together. After learning that the studio is in the process of casting a few X-Force members to cameo in Deadpool 2, The Hollywood Reporter now brings word that New Mutants has begun to recruit some talent to get in front of the camera.

As was previously rumoured, and all but confirmed, both Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy have snagged roles in the spinoff, playing Wolfsbane (who has the ability to turn into a wolf, as the name implies) and Magik (who can teleport, among other things), respectively. Furthermore, Fox is also searching for “ethnically appropriate actors to play the Native American Moonstar and the South American Sunspot.” There’s no word yet on which individuals might be up for those roles, but with Williams and Taylor-Joy now locked in, expect the rest of the cast to fill out shortly.

In regards to the two young actresses who signed on today, they’re both up and coming talent in Hollywood who are more than ready for some blockbuster roles. Williams is probably more well known thanks to her time on Game of Thrones, but Taylor-Joy has been doing some fantastic work lately as well, showing up recently in Split. While their involvement with Josh Boone’s upcoming X-Men spinoff isn’t exactly surprising – given that they’ve been linked to it for a while now – the confirmation is certainly nice to have.

New Mutants lands in theatres on April 13th, 2018, so it shouldn’t be too much longer now before the rest of the roles are cast. As always, watch this space for more.
