Kirsten Dunst Wishes Spider-Man 4 Had Happened And Doesn’t Care For The Reboots

Now, the Fargo alum has weighed in on the scrapped fourth instalment of Raimi’s series. At the time, it was said that both the Vulture and Black Cat would be introduced, but budgetary concerns and studio interference which soured the filmmaker on the movie led to a reboot in 2012 which saw Tobey Maguire replaced with Andrew Garfield for The Amazing Spider-Man.

Regardless of what form it would have taken, Dunst was clearly keen on returning as Peter Parker’s fiancee for another instalment, as she recently said the following in an interview with Variety:

“I wanted to be in that movie so badly. I loved it, and I wish we could have made a fourth.”

As for both The Amazing Spider-Man movies and the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, the actress was quick to point out that she has no interest in the remakes. In fact, she seemed to outright dismiss them, saying that she doesn’t care for the new versions of the character.

“I don’t care. Everyone likes our ‘Spider-Man.’ C’mon, am I right or what? Listen, I’d rather be in the first ones than the new ones.”

It’s easy enough to understand why Dunst might feel that way, and with the actress making something of a comeback in recent years, it’ll be interesting to see if she winds up in another superhero property at some point. After all, it’s been a decade since she starred in Spider-Man 3, so enough time has probably passed, right?
