Star Wars: The Last Jedi LEGO Sets Reveal Some Intriguing New Details

Though studios will usually pull out all the stops to keep the plot of their big blockbusters under wraps for as long as possible, tie-in merchandise is often responsible for giving audiences a heads up on certain things. LEGO sets, in particular, tend to spoil set pieces and minor character details, and these Star Wars: The Last Jedi toys are no different.

Thanks to the guys over at Making Star Wars, we now have pictures (seen in the gallery below) of three of the sets that will be available to purchase closer to the film’s release. First up is the Resistance Bomber, which introduces a new character named Resistance Gunner Paige. She’ll probably only have a minor part to play, but according to MSW, she’s actually Rose Tico’s (Kelly Marie Tran) sister. In addition to that, we also have the First Order Mega Assault Walker, which is an updated – and far more formidable looking – version of the AT-AT walkers from The Empire Strikes Back.

The final set is the First Order Star Destroyer, and it provides the most interesting reveal of all three. Not only does it confirm recent rumors that we’ll be seeing an “evil” BB-8 unit in The Last Jedi, but the Supreme Leader Snoke minifig gives us a glimpse of the mysterious villain sporting very different attire to the black cloak he wore the last time we saw him, which was as a giant hologram in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Could this also mean that he’s actually a normal-sized humanoid and will be depicted without the use of CGI? That remains to be seen, but be sure to share your theories in the usual place.

On December 15th, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will make a beeline for theaters the world over and uncover the next – and seemingly crucial – chapter in the Skywalker saga. It’ll be followed by the Han Solo anthology film and Episode IX, and yesterday brought confirmation that John Boyega’s Finn will indeed return for Colin Trevorrow’s 2019 tentpole.
