Aside from the underworld getting ready to tear itself apart, one thread that we obviously need to pay attention to going into next week’s season finale of Gotham is that of the unfolding situation involving Bruce Wayne that has seen him get involved with the Court of Owls, whom, as it turns out, were merely expendable puppets for the League of Shadows.
With young Bruce recently having been mentally conditioned to do the League’s bidding, the Shaman succeeded in releasing the Alice Tetch virus in the heart of the city, thus opening the door for unimaginable chaos. With that, Ra’s al Ghul will finally make his grand entrance in the season finale and, if you look closely enough, it appears that he can be seen in the trailer embedded at the top.
As riveting as this season has been, our hope is that the producers don’t make Bruce directly take any lives because even though he’s being coerced, doing such a thing would cause even the most casual of fans to riot. They kind of danced around it last night by having the Shaman hit the detonator Bruce had his thumb on, but that was still pushing it. In short, if you want us to come back for a fourth season, don’t make us hate the boy who would be Batman.

With the deadly virus spreading throughout the city, the search for the antidote continues, as Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), The Riddler and Penguin reveal plans of their own. Bruce meets Ra’s Al Ghul (guest star Alexander Siddig) and completes his last task in order to fulfill his destiny, but realizes he can’t let go of his past. Meanwhile, Gordon tries to win back Lee, and past alliances within Gotham City are broken, while new alliances are formed in the all-new, special two-hour “Heroes Rise: Destiny Calling/ Heroes Rise: Heavydirtysoul” season finale episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, June 5 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
