Deadpool 2 Star T.J. Miller Bigs Up Potentially Hilarious Story Arc Involving Weasel And Dopinder

So much attention has been devoted to the search and subsequent casting of Domino and Cable – for the record, Zazie Beetz and Infinity War star Josh Brolin clinched those two coveted roles, respectively – that you’d be forgiven for overlooking some of the original stars returning for Deadpool 2.

Case in point: Karan Son’s Dopinder, the Merc with a Mouth’s personal chauffeur and arguably one of the more under-appreciated elements of Fox’s 2016 sleeper hit. Rest assured, Karan Son will be back behind the wheel for Deadpool 2, and will join a list of returning stars that includes Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and T.J. Miller’s Weasel, one of Wade Wilson’s closest allies.

Miller, who is currently in the midst of press rounds for The Emoji Movie, has promised more screen time for Weasel in the David Leitch-directed sequel, and during a recent interview with Screen Rant, even hinted at a potentially hilarious storyline involving his character and Karan Son’s Dopinder. We should stress that this is a potential storyline, as T.J. Miller can’t state with absolute certainty that it’ll make the cut – David Leitch and Co. are yet to get the cameras rolling, after all – but it makes for interesting reading nonetheless.

Per Screen Rant:

We’re shooting in August and September and it’s going to be even more Weaselicious. … The cab driver, Karan Soni, and Weasel have a pretty funny storyline, which I’m not positive is going to be in [the movie], but they were talking about it and it was really making me laugh. And I like him, I did Office Christmas Party with him, and he’s very funny, very quick and so — because we didn’t cross paths in the original film. … So y’know [fans can expect] stuff like that. I think they’re really building out the world and deciding kind of what’s next.

Filming on Deadpool 2 is expected to get underway later this summer ahead of a release on June 1st, 2018. Atomic Blonde director David Leitch will helm the picture from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It’s one of three mutant tentpoles earmarked for next year, the other two being New Mutants and Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
