Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is fast approaching the homestretch.

At least, that’s according to the sequel’s producer and all-around franchise veteran Frank Marshall, who posted yet another status update yesterday evening to reveal that filming on Fallen Kingdom is expected to wrap by the week’s end. Marshall has been banging the drum for Juan Antonio Bayona’s blockbuster sequel for months now, Tweeting out from photos from the film’s primordial, picturesque set in Hawaii, which doubles as the fictional Isla Nublar in Universal’s dino franchise.

In 2015, and despite increased park security and Bryce Dallas Howard’s ballbuster, Claire Dearing, that famous Isla Nublar was torn asunder once the man-made Indominus Rex snuck out of containment, setting off a chain of disastrous events that culminated in a titanic clash between the Indomnius and the Tyrannosaurus Rex – between the old and the new – as the former was left sleeping with the fishes. Or the Mosasaurus, if we’re being specific.

Expect another round of genetically modified beasties to feature in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and the subtitle alone leads us to believe that Bayona’s sequel will be able to deliver on all those promises of a darker, scarier, and more intense popcorn movie. Besides, with principal photography about to wrap – barring any last-minute reshoots that may have already been folded into the production timeline – it shouldn’t be too much longer before Universal decides to roll out the inaugural teaser for Jurassic World 2. San Diego Comic-Con is just around the corner, after all, and though Hall H is typically dominated by tentpole superhero movies, don’t rule out Fallen Kingdom‘s chances of making an appearance just yet.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be with us on June 22nd, 2018.
