Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey #1 First Look Boasts Action On The Grandest Scale

For months now, we've been slowly learning more and more about this mysterious project dubbed Generations that Marvel has been cooking up. Admittedly, it was easy enough to grab our attention by uniting heroes past and present that have taken up various mantles via some kind of wacky science fiction (examples: Wolverines Logan and Laura Kinney fighting side by side, or Thors Odinson and Jane Foster).

For months now, we’ve been slowly learning more and more about this mysterious project dubbed Generations that Marvel has been cooking up. Admittedly, it was easy enough to grab our attention by uniting heroes past and present that have taken up various mantles via some kind of wacky science fiction (examples: Wolverines Logan and Laura Kinney fighting side by side, or Thors Odinson and Jane Foster).

Eventually, it came to light that Generations will somehow intertwine with the currently unfolding event series Secret Empire, possibly leading into whatever Marvel Legacy will yield. Thus, what at first appeared to be a collection of fun one-shots may very well have a greater impact on the Marvel Universe as a whole than originally suspected.

Today, the publisher has granted us to take a deeper look into what they have planned by offering a first look inside Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey #1. And despite the preview being unlettered, seeing a younger version of Jean teaming up with her future self to take on Galactus……well, let’s just say it doesn’t get any bigger than that – literally.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Teenage Jean Grey is willing to do whatever it takes to avoid the fate that befell her predecessor. But when Jean is cast through time and comes face-to-face with the newly possessed Phoenix, will she find the key to saving herself…or learn that her fate is sealed? But what Universe changing events will be witnessed on the final pages of this story?!

As you may already be aware of, young Jean time traveled to the present not long ago with some of the other original X-Men in tow and, in the time since, has struggled with the knowledge of what she’s fated to become. Being a fan of the Terminator movies, it’s hard to say that she wouldn’t support the motto “no fate but what we make.”

Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey #1 arrives in comic shops on August 9.
