Peter Capaldi Says Jodie Whittaker Will Be A Fantastic Doctor

By now, you're probably well aware that the BBC has chosen Peter Capaldi's replacement for Doctor Who, with Jodie Whittaker set to take over the iconic role. By now, you’re probably well aware that the BBC has chosen Peter Capaldi’s replacement for Doctor Who, with Jodie Whittaker set to take over the iconic role. As for us? While we can understand the concern that some might have about Whittaker being chosen, we can safely say that we’re excited to see what she can bring to the show as well as what interesting, exciting avenues having a female Doctor might lead the writers down.

That’s a sentiment that Capaldi seems to agree with as well, as he offered up the following words of encouragement earlier today:

“Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker’s work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm. She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She’s going to be a fantastic Doctor.”

While the actor obviously wouldn’t say anything bad about his replacement, it’s still nice to see him throwing his support behind Whittaker. Like we mentioned above, there’s a good chunk of the fanbase who isn’t happy with her being given the role, and she’ll definitely have her work cut out for her if she’s to win over the critics.

Thankfully, we’ll get our first taste of the actress as the new Doctor later this year, when the Christmas special rolls around. It won’t be until season 11, however, that we get to really see what she can do with the part. That being said, we’ve got full faith in the BBC at this point and as of now, we’re certainly looking forward to seeing Jodie Whittaker climb aboard Doctor Who and bring about some change to the show.
