Latest Han Solo Set Videos Spotlight The Film’s Practical Effects

Ron Howard is at it again. This time around, the Han Solo director has shared two new set videos to spotlight crashed speeders and other practical effects.

Director Ron Howard has delivered his latest status report from the set of Lucasfilm’s untitled Han Solo movie.

First spotted by EW, this particular update comes in the form of two all-too-brief set videos, both of which uphold Howard’s knack for secrecy. Since climbing aboard back in June, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has rolled around a steady, yet discreet collection of stills and candid videos to showcase the Millennium Falcon – and, presumably, our first fleeting glimpse of Donald Glover as the young Lando – an army of droids, and potential alien allies.

This time around, though, Howard and his team have relayed new photos from the film’s makeshift junkyard, with one Tweet, in particular, bearing the caption: “Where old speeders go to die.” Indeed, if you’ve been keeping track of the storied production cycle – and given the high-profile firing of erstwhile directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, chances are you have – you’ll know that the Han Solo spinoff has spent time lensing in the Fawley Power Station in Southeastern England, so we’re inclined to believe that all of these shots will be folded into the same sequence come 2018.

Also starring Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Thandie Newtown (Westworld), and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Disney’s origin story looks to have put its worst days behind it, and below, you’ll find the latest update lifted straight from Howard’s Twitter feed.

Filming on the Han Solo anthology movie will likely continue over the course of the next two to three months, before Disney and Lucasfilm’s origin story enters post-production in anticipation of its release on May 25th, 2018. One year after that, former Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will launch the as-yet-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX into theaters to effectively bring the curtain down on this current Skywalker trilogy.
