Looks Like Paul Bettany’s Vision Will Be Returning For Avengers 4

Per Collider, Paul Bettany has all but confirmed that his Vision will survive Marvel's Infinity War to appear in the so-far untitled Avengers 4.

If Avengers: Infinity War (AKA the biggest movie ever made?) is being kept locked away in the Marvel vaults, the prolific studio is really pulling out all the stops to ensure the unnamed Avengers 4 retains its status as one of the most secretive productions in Hollywood.

But all of the precautions in the world – the red tape, the NDAs, and coy codenames (“Mary Lou”) – won’t stem the flow of rumors (Black Widow and the Yakuza) and leaked documents (alleged call sheets) flooding the interwebs. However that may be, the latest MCU-related tidbit hails from a more official source: Paul Bettany.

First introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark’s snarky A.I., J.A.R.V.I.S., by harnessing the power of the Mind Stone, Bettany has since evolved into Vision, a god-like android capable of wielding Mjölnir and shooting concentrated beams of energy from his forehead. Pretty neat, huh? Only Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is on a similar level, hence the romance blossoming between the two, and while chatting to Collider, Paul Bettany all but confirmed his return for Avengers 4 in 2019.

After gushing about the sheer size and scope of Infinity War ahead of its release in May of next year, Bettany noted that there’s still the prospect of Avengers 4 looming on the horizon.

Yes, it really did. It felt like the biggest movie that I’ve ever made and will ever make, and we’ve still got to make the [next] one. It’s f***ing crazy! I would come in, often at dawn because of the length of my make-up, and there would just be all of these twinkling lights. It looked like a town, but it wasn’t. It was where all of the trailers were. It was just massive. It’s massive! The call sheets are bananas. When you see the list of cast members, you’re like, ‘How is anybody else making a film in Hollywood, this year? How are they getting films financed? Everybody is in this!’

With Infinity War in the can, Joe and Anthony Russo have stepped back behind the lens to begin capturing scenes for Avengers 4. It’s currently penciled in for May 3rd of 2019, at which point Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (Vision included!) will dig deep to fend off the invading Thanos (Deadpool 2‘s Josh Brolin) once and for all.
