Without a doubt, right now is a great time to be a fan of The Flash. Not only does his TV series continue to rank among the best superhero shows currently on the small screen, but the Scarlet Speedster is also set to headline the Flashpoint movie that’ll grace theaters sometime within the next few years.
All that awesomeness aside, we wouldn’t have anything to enjoy in other media if not for the comic books themselves. Fortunate for us, though, is that Joshua Williamson has consistently been hitting home runs ever since he began his tenure on The Flash at the start of the Rebirth era (if you require proof, check out our five-star review for the first collected edition here).
But like any truly great comic book writer, Williamson isn’t just telling good stories. In addition to doing that, he’s also been generously adding to the mythology along the way, creating the villainous Godspeed in a stroke of absolute genius, fleshing out the origin of the Reverse-Flash and even creating a somewhat new persona for Barry Allen that has been dubbed “Negative-Flash.”
Now, the parameters of said persona have yet to be entirely defined, but ever since Eobard Thawne trapped our hero in the Negative Speed Force, he’s been experiencing some new and different powers – while feeling a little more human at the same time. Yes, a strange journey lies ahead, but that’s part of the fun.
For more of what to expect in part two of “Negative,” be sure to check out the official synopsis below:
“NEGATIVE” part two! What’s a Rogue to do when The Flash goes bad? Get worse. Operating from behind bars in Iron Heights, the incarcerated Rogues graduate from costumed crooks to true kingpins of crime, unleashing the new villain known as Shrapnel upon the chaotic and unprotected streets of Central City.
The Flash #29 arrives in comics shops next Wednesday, August 23.
