Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, an animated microseries focusing on the women of the Star Wars universe, was a surprise announcement back at April’s Celebration. Within a couple of months, though, the series was already being released – on both YouTube and the Disney Channel – and seemed to be quite well received.

Fans of the show will be pleased to know then that season 2 will be just as quick in getting onto our screens. While talking with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Jennifer Muro revealed that Forces of Destiny will return in October. She dropped the news when asked which characters would be appearing in the next run.

“I wish I could tell you! You’ll find out in October. It’s been announced that we’ll see Hera [from Star Wars: Rebels], which will be great. I think people will enjoy seeing the characters in the second season.”

Muro also chatted about the positive fan reaction to the series, saying:

“It is being really well received! We always wanted to inspire fans of all ages, as long as it was through authentic Star Wars storytelling, I think that was our biggest goal. I think fans can sense that and, even if they’re not thrilled, they understand, “Oh, I know who this is for.” Honestly, the feedback has been mostly super-positive.”

The first season of Forces of Destiny featured an all-star cast. Notably, Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones and Lupita N’yongo all returned to voice the women they played on the big screen – Rey, Jyn Erso and Maz Kanata. Animated TV characters Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar), Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) and Hera Syndulla (Vanessa Marshall) also appeared. Likewise, classic characters Princess Leia and Padme Amidala were voiced by new actors (Shelby Young and Catherine Taber, respectively).

All eight episodes of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny are now available on the official Disney YouTube channel.
