The past several weeks have been rather tough for Deadpool 2.
Filming on Fox and David Leitch’s comic book sequel ground to a halt back in August when Joi “SJ” Harris, a talented road racer who signed on to double as Zazie Beetz’s Domino, was killed when an on-set motorcycle stunt went awry. The studio immediately shut down production to lend cast and crew members enough time to grieve, and it was during that admittedly brief window of time that the industry’s stunt community slammed Fox producers for what they believed was an avoidable accident.
Whether that is indeed the case is up for debate, but it’s understood Deadpool 2 is back shooting scenes and we now have a new set photo to prove it. Coming to us by way of Ryan Reynolds’ Twitter account, it shows the actor in costume as the Merc asking his followers to help donate some money to help with relief efforts for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma
“Let’s help Hurricanes Harvey and Irma to fuck off. Support http://Americares.org or charity of your choice: http://charitynavigator.org,” read the caption attached to the Tweet, and you can check out the photo for yourself down in the gallery below, along with a few previously released ones.
What’s interesting to note here is that if you look close enough at Deadpool’s hand, it appears that he’s got a gunshot wound. Not only that, but he’s also all patched up with duct tape. What could have led to this is unknown, but might it indicate that his healing factor isn’t as effective as it once was? Time will tell, but color us intrigued.
Despite a slight delay in production, Deadpool 2 remains on course for a release on June 1st, 2018. It currently finds itself sandwiched between New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix on Fox’s slate, while the studio recently staked out a total of six new release dates between now and 2021 for a slew of its mystery Marvel movies. Word is that one of those windows has been reserved for a kid-friendly redo of Fantastic Four, which would certainly be a marked departure from Josh Trank’s po-faced reboot that ostensibly bombed at the box office in 2015.
