Even though we were treated to a hearty helping of new footage and information a couple months ago at San Diego Comic-Con, The CW has been somewhat mum when it comes to releasing individual promos for its various DC TV shows. Luckily, that’s now changing as we’re four weeks removed from the commencement of the next “super season.”

Titled “I Got This,” the first real TV spot for Supergirl season 3 has a considerably lighter tone than what was shown in San Diego, instead playing up the series’ action-packed nature and featuring a more uplifting feeling that you’d expect to receive from the Girl of Steel.

In it, we see one of the first threats to present itself this season in the form of Robert DuBois AKA Bloodsport. Normally thought to be an enemy of Kara Zor-El’s cousin, this villain has a history of being associated with Lex Luthor in the comic books. And while Lex himself has been merely but a whispered name on this series (save for him being played by a child actor in a flashback), that doesn’t mean DuBois hasn’t been contracted by him. After all, Superman’s greatest foe has already done some work from behind bars.

Understandably, some of you may now turn your suspicions toward Lena Luthor due to word getting out about her doing a possible heel turn at some point, but we don’t see her standing on a precipice until later on in the season. If indeed there’s to be a turning point in her life, odds are that the producers are going to build toward it.

Supergirl returns for its third season on Monday, October 9 on The CW.
