Nathan Summers (AKA Cable) looks a little worse for wear in this new, black-and-white photo for Deadpool 2.

Unveiled via Josh Brolin’s personal Instagram feed, the stark teaser finds our hulking mercenary screaming into a cracked mirror, which I imagine is how most of us feel first thing on a Monday morning. But for ol’ Nathan Summers, there is much more at stake than simply waking up on the wrong side of the bed.

For in the David Leitch-directed Deadpool 2, Josh Brolin’s time-traveling character – dubbed a “grumpy, heavily armed uncle from the future” by lead star Ryan Reynolds – will be involved in a number of huge action sequences, as leaked set photos have already revealed. From giant, inflatable pandas to overturned military vehicles, Leitch’s follow-up caused quite the ruckus on the streets of Vancouver, but as the co-director of John Wick, we’re confident Deadpool 2 is in good hands. Or was in good hands, given principal photography has reportedly wrapped.

And so, with the Merc’s sophomore outing headed to post-production, Josh Brolin has now posted a suitably stylish update via Instagram, one in which Nathan Summers can be seen screaming into a cracked bathroom (?) mirror. Lean a little closer and you’ll notice the bionic metal protruding from Cable’s flesh, while earlier set photos have confirmed that signature prosthetic arm.

No further details were released, but the portrait did come bearing the caption: “Oh my God, wait until you see ‘Deadpool’. It’s SO funny!!!” #L2 #cableinsanity #cableswole #cablepowered #cableporn.” Take a look at it down in the gallery below, along with a few previously released pics, and let us know what you think:

Cable was one of two big-name additions to the Deadpool 2 cast, and will join Zazie Beetz’s Domino come 2018. Indeed, the film is also expected to lay the foundations for Drew Goddard’s X-Force ensemble movie, which is just now beginning to coalesce.

Emerging from a troubled spell in production, when stuntwoman Joi “SJ” Harris was tragically killed in an on-set accident, Deadpool 2 has a release date of June 1st, 2018.
