ABC Allays Fears That Marvel’s Inhumans Series Has Already Been Canned

Inhumans just can’t catch a break.

Originally hatched as a big-budget addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, during which time the likes of Vin Diesel and other Hollywood stars were tipped to climb on board, the beleaguered project was later repackaged as an eight-part TV series, one which still retained its cinematic DNA through those much-hyped IMAX scenes.

The journey to the small screen hasn’t been without problems of its own, after the first wave of Inhumans reviews deemed Marvel and ABC’s latest venture to be a “visual bust.” Those knee-jerk reactions began to surface soon after the show’s IMAX premiere, which took place at the beginning of the month when Marvel rolled out the opening two episodes of Inhumans across participating IMAX theaters.

That stint on the large-screen format was reportedly cut short by It, but over the past few days, Marvel fans have been more concerned about the possibility that ABC would pull the plug on Inhumans after only one season – and on the eve of its TV premiere, no less. Turns out that’s not the case. Not yet, at least.

The Internet was sent into a tailspin just yesterday when a seemingly innocuous poster (see above) from ABC arrived to champion the “complete series” of Inhumans. But don’t fret; Marvel isn’t about to give up on its Royal Family just yet, as a representative has reached out to Screen Geek in order to set the record straight.

The statement stressed that “this is the same promotional verbiage we’ve been using throughout our campaign, as this is not a new poster.” So don’t be fooled into thinking that the complete series of Inhumans translates as the only series of Inhumans.

Marvel’s Royal Family is expected to grace the small screen on September 29th.
