Everything we’ve seen so far of the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok has looked amazing – from the witty and exciting trailers to the expertly designed one-sheets. Hell, even Hulk’s bed looks cool as hell. Now, you can add another heap of awesome to the pile with this international trailer for the film aimed at the Japanese market.
Though comprised primarily of footage we’ve seen in other promos, this one gives us more of Cate Blanchett as Hela (always a good thing) and a whip-crack precise montage of shots set to a seriously kickin’ beat. Maybe this is just personal taste, but stuff like this trailer makes Warner Bros.’ Justice League seem painfully dour and static in comparison.
Of course, there’s still room for Thor: Ragnarok to disappoint – I’ve been burned too many times by excellent trailers that misrepresented their films to take this for granted. Then again, this one has Cate Blanchett and Jeff Goldblum as top class Marvel cosmic entities and is directed by Taika Waititi – and if you somehow missed Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do In The Shadows, then go check them out RIGHT NOW.
Frankly, after watching this preview, it feels like Marvel Studios have decided that they’re finally going to have one unambiguously great Thor movie. The original was just a bit average and The Dark World still stands as probably the worst MCU effort to date (tied alongside the largely forgotten The Incredible Hulk). Chris Hemsworth has been fantastic across the franchise and he deserves a film that does the character justice – and I think Thor: Ragnarok is going to be just that when it storms into cinemas on November 3rd.
