As far as film buzz goes, the remainder of 2017 has quickly boiled down to a three horse race between Thor: Ragnarok, Justice League and a little-known sci-fi movie called Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The latter undoubtedly stole the headlines earlier this week, when Lucasfilm and Disney unleashed the dazzling first trailer in order to tee up the next chapter in the storied Skywalker saga. Even now, the hype and excitement swirling around The Last Jedi is palpable, but whereas Lucasfilm exercised some restraint in its marketing, Warner Bros. has adopted an all-guns-blazing approach for Justice League, as today has brought forth yet another TV spot for Zack Snyder’s big-budget tentpole.

Arriving on the heels of multiple promos and an extensive featurette, not to mention a collection of cool concept art, this newly-released spot is all about Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader. Imbued with a renewed sense of hope thanks to Henry Cavill’s fallen Man of Steel, Gotham’s Dark Knight begins to scour the four corners of the Earth in search of metahumans – individuals with enough special abilities to ward off the impending apocalypse.

That oncoming threat can be traced all the way back to Steppenwolf, Ciaran Hinds’ otherworldly nasty that was originally teased in a deleted scene from Batman V Superman. Back then, it was Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor who summoned the space oddity, likely as a last-ditch attempt to seize some semblance of power.

Fast forward one year and change, and the Justice League have been left to handle a threat unlike anything they’ve ever faced. Strap in, folks, because it looks like Warner Bros. is about to unleash the big guns in five weeks’ time.

It’s official: Justice League will be with us on November 17th – just don’t expect much screentime for J.K. Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon. He’s still on the roll call, though, as is Jesse Eisenberg’s scheming megalomaniac, Lex Luthor.
