Thor Has Dire Plans For Destiny In New Ragnarok Promo

The God of Thunder is about to make his presence felt at the domestic box office.

Figures relayed by The Hollywood Reporter this week have revealed that Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel and Taika Waititi’s imminent threequel, is now tracking for a $90m-$100m debut in North America across the weekend of November 3rd. To put that forecast into perspective, the original Thor and its sequel, The Dark World, opened to $65.7 million and $85.7 million, respectively, which only makes this revelation all the more impressive.

And so, as we quickly approach the film’s premiere, Marvel is doing everything they can to ensure that the threequel hits those numbers, which means that the marketing barrage is well and truly underway. The latest piece of the puzzle has just landed online, in fact, in the form of a brand new promo.

Though a bit on the short side, and made up mostly of footage we’ve already seen, it’s another great look at Thor: Ragnarok and if nothing else, it ensures that Marvel fans can feel safe in the knowledge that Waititi is about to deliver a riotous slice of comic book action.

But don’t just take our word for it. In the lead-up to November 3rd, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn took to Twitter to shower praise on Thor: Ragnarok, a movie he considers to be a “stunningly fun and hilarious” addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. High praised indeed from the man who normalized a living tree and a fast-talking raccoon.

So, all signs currently point to Thor: Ragnarok being remembered as another slam dunk for Marvel Studios, and the first truly great solo film for the God of Thunder.
