Legends Of Tomorrow Casts John Noble As Voice Of Mallus

For those of you who have been following Legends of Tomorrow this fall, you may agree with me in saying that the current season is on track to being the best yet. Not only is the cast gelling more perfectly than ever before, but the writers have found a nice balance between humor and drama, while also crafting one of the best superhero shows on airwaves - and this is coming from a guy who'd been highly critical of past efforts.

So, if you’ve been keeping up, then you’re well aware of how mysticism seems to be the backbone of season 3, with the name “Mallus” already having been subtly dropped. And if you’re giving your big bad a moniker that intimidating, then you’d better find an actor who can bring the proper gravitas.

Well, it looks like the casting department did their job, because none other than John Noble (Fringe, Sleepy Hollow) will lend his pipes to the villainous role. Having already acquainted himself with DC fans via voiceover roles as Brainiac and Scarecrow in Superman: Unbound and Batman: Arkham Knight, respectively, it stands to reason that you’re just as excited for his debut as we are.

As it turns out, we’ll learn more about him as soon as tonight’s episode. Here’s what executive producer Marc Guggenheim had to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“That’s the big mythology of the season and what makes Mallus cool at this stage of everyone’s viewing experience is that right now he is just a name and is this whisper. You’ll learn more about him in [episode] 305.”

One other thing to note is that just because Noble is providing Mallus’ voice, it doesn’t mean he’ll be the same actor who ends up being under the hood. In the past, Tony Todd and Tobin Bell voiced Zoom and Savitar, respectively, over on The Flash, with both instances turning out to be ways to hide those villains’ true identities. That said, a similar situation wouldn’t surprise us in this case.

Legends of Tomorrow airs on Tuesday nights on The CW.
