Two years ago, John Boyega’s exiled Stormtrooper confronted his former employer on Starkiller Base. But when Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber cut through the snow (and Finn’s shoulder!), Star Wars fans feared the worst.

Thankfully, it seems the injuries he sustained at the hands of Ren weren’t life-threatening, but Finn clearly still needs some tender love and care before he’s ready to rejoin the fight against the First Order. How do we know? Well, thanks to The Last Jedi‘s inaugural teaser, we’ve already caught a glimpse of an unconscious Finn in some form of high-tech healing chamber (a bacta suit, perhaps?), which is likely used as a means to speed up the recovery process.

It’s still unclear exactly how long it’ll take until the Resistance is able to nurse Finn back to health, but he’s set to be a big part of Episode VIII and today, he finally gets his time in the spotlight with a brand new TV spot that features him quite prominently. There’s not very much here in the way of new footage, but given that most of the marketing has been focused heavily on other characters, it’s great to see Boyega’s former Stormtrooper get the chance to shine.

As for what exactly he’ll be up to in the film, well, word is that Finn will be joining Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) on a dark and dangerous mission in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, one that whisks them off on a quest from Canto Bight to the sun-scorched plains of Crait, which, as we learned last month, are also home to a peculiar blue-eyed ice fox. Beyond that, we don’t know very much about the character’s arc, but all will be revealed on December 15th.
