If you’ve been following the Arrowverse to this point, you’ve probably noticed a pattern of sorts when it comes to the evolution of costumes worn by title characters. In other words, despite being given minor alterations in their first three seasons, both Oliver Queen and Barry Allen received considerable upgrades when the respective fourth seasons of Arrow and The Flash rolled around. Having said that, it wouldn’t surprise us in the slightest if Supergirl were to don some new threads next fall.
What’s actually quite interesting about the Scarlet Speedster, though, is that those stylish duds he’s been showing off around Central City as of late were originally seen back in season 3 when Barry ventured to 2024 in “The Once and Future Flash.” If you’re in need of a refresher, that’s when he met up with his future self in an attempt to learn the true identity of Savitar. And, while there, we saw that the Barry of tomorrow had made some aesthetic changes, thus heralding the costume being worn this year.
Similarly, the Green Arrow’s current costume, which became the standard at the start of that show’s fifth season, was actually first seen in similar fashion back in the “Star City 2046” episode of Legends of Tomorrow. Seriously, go back and watch it. It was there.
Getting back to the Flash himself, illustrator/costume designer Andy Poon recently posted some cool concept art on his Instagram page showing the new suit he designed along with Maya Mani. Of course, he worked on these some time ago, but it’s nice to see them now that they’ve been declassified.
Also of note is that White Canary’s new costume was displayed as well. Even though there wasn’t much fanfare surrounding this particular reveal, she herself is sporting a slightly updated look in Legends‘ third season. I’d probably have to really compare it side by side with her old look to spot most of the major differences, but she is looking sleeker this time around, something from which a former member of the League of Assassins would benefit.
