As someone who’s enjoyed watching The Flash since the pilot episode aired three years ago, it’s very hard to overlook the fact that season 4 has gotten off to a pretty rough start. After witnessing the seriousness of season 3 – a season that I actually liked, by the way – it seems like the solution the powers-that-be arrived at was to go so far in the opposite direction that they turned the show into a flat-out comedy. Really, I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if slide whistles and “boing” noises were to be added in post-production for upcoming episodes.
Still, there has been some hope given, and that’s come in the form of this year’s big bad, the Thinker. Granted, there’s been much mystery surrounding him and his screentime thus far has been kept to a minimum, but the guy’s appearance is downright frightening, as he looks like an evil version of Peter Weller’s RoboCop.
To date, he and Barry Allen have been kept apart, but that changed near the end of last night’s episode. Actually, we’ve known for a few weeks now that a fateful meeting between the two was coming, but the true shocker arrived when we saw that Clifford Devoe has a civilian guise, thus we assume that he’s not entirely dependent on those cybernetics.
In order to promote next week’s offering, “Therefore I Am,” the network has circulated a handsome new poster that places Barry and the Thinker side by side. As usual, the graphic design team knocked it out of the park, and it can be seen in the gallery above alongside a couple other recent favorites.
