By now, many of you probably agree that one element which has allowed Injustice 2 to flourish is the addictive gameplay that it shares with its predecessor. And much like the original, it spotlights a DC Universe much different from the one we’ve come to know. As such, it’s given both developers and comic book creators much room to craft some truly riveting tales.
Not surprisingly, Tom Taylor has been knocking it out of the park as of late with the Injustice 2 ongoing title that serves as a prequel to the events depicted in the hit video game. This time, though, it’s K. Perkins who takes the wheel for the first annual to be spun from this particular series, effectively detailing Wonder Woman’s origin.
Normally, we think of the Injustice universe as being not all that dissimilar to DC continuity proper until it reached the bifurcation point that was Superman putting his arm through Joker’s torso, but those who’ve kept up with the comics know how complicated matters can get.
Upon perusing the above gallery, you’ll find similarities to the widely accepted Wonder Woman origin (being raised on Themyscira, meeting Steve Trevor, etc.), but certain happenings will make you question whether she was fated to go off the rails, much like Kal-El. Having read the issue myself, I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that you definitely won’t want to miss out.
