Universal is really going all-in with its promotion of Fallen Kingdom, eh?
In anticipation of the sequel’s first full trailer, which is expected to roar online during tomorrow night’s episode of Thursday Night Football on CBS, the Powers That Be have pumped out no less than three trailer teases designed to offer a fleeting glimpse of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing – Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, respectively – setting down on Isla Nublar once more. But there’s trouble afoot.
Though Juan Antonio Bayona’s blockbuster sequel takes place “several years” after Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom will largely revolve around a volcano that leaves those prehistoric beasts on the brink of extinction…again. But on the eve of Universal’s trailer premiere, the studio has dropped an insightful featurette that takes you behind the scenes of Bayona’s Fallen Kingdom. Oh, and did we mention there’s a sneak peek at Jeff Goldblum’s returning Ian Malcolm? You can see that, and much more up above, while the following legacy promo reminds us that, when it comes to the Jurassic Park franchise, sometimes it’s best to turn tail and run…fast.
Story-wise, and as we alluded to before, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom kicks off right around the time when Isla Nublar and its extraordinary ecosystem are under threat from a long-dormant volcano.
The sequel — set several years after 2015’s billion-dollar smash Jurassic World — concerns a volcano on Isla Nublar that threatens the dinosaurs that had overrun the park at the end of the previous film. Who has the best shot at preventing the prehistoric beasts from becoming extinct (again)? That would be Chris Pratt’s dino trainer Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s former park manager, Claire Dearing.
