Wentworth Miller Confirms Captain Cold Is Returning To The Flash In 2018

Wentworth Miller’s anti-hero Leonard Snart is one of the biggest fan favourites from The CW’s Arrowverse, but sadly his appearances have been thin on the ground for the past couple of seasons. Thanks to the wonders of time travel and alternate universes, though, Snart has come back here and there ever since. And, despite some recent comments from Miller suggesting he was hanging up his cold gun for good, we’ve now learned that the character will be returning to his original show for at least one more episode in 2018.

The actor made the announcement at the 2017 German Comic-Con, although he heavily suggested that it could be his last ever Arrowverse appearance.

“I have one more episode to shoot that’s in January. I think it’s going to be an episode of The Flash. And then that’s it for me, contractually. But I will never say never. Because I do enjoy these characters so much, and I have a lot of affection for the cast. There are many reasons to come back. It just has to be the right story.”

The last time we saw Miller on these shows he was playing Captain Cold’s heroic doppelganger from Earth-X, known as Leo “Citizen Cold” Snart, in the recent “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover. He also reprised the role for the midseason finale of Legends of Tomorrow, though his comments confirm that he won’t be returning to the Waverider after Christmas.

But which version of Snart will we see on Miller’s episode of The Flash? The obvious suggestion would be for Citizen Cold to turn up again, but seeing as it’s potentially the actor’s final appearance, they might want to bring back the original Captain Cold one last time. Previously, Snart has returned via flashbacks, speed force ghosts and Barry travelling to the past, so the possibilities are endless.

Be sure to catch The Flash 4×10 “The Trial of the Flash” when it airs January 16, 2018 on The CW.
