Halloween Veteran Nick Castle Officially Returning For 2018 Sequel

Bloody Disgusting has revealed that Nick Castle (AKA The Shape) will be returning to Haddonfield next year for David Gordon Green's Halloween.

Though it’s still a full 11 months out, casting on Blumhouse’s Halloween sequel is beginning to heat up.

Earlier this month, for instance, we learned that Andi Matichak had clinched the role of Laurie Strode’s granddaughter, Allyson. That casting coup paves the way for a multi-generational story – a first for the Halloween series – given Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer are primed to play Laurie and Karen Strode, respectively. It’s shaping up to be a family reunion, then, but what’s an old-school slasher flick without a foreboding, omnipresent monster at its core? Enter Michael Myers.

Because according to the folks over at Bloody Disgusting, David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel, one which will seemingly favor dread over gore, has welcomed Nick Castle back to the fold. Come 2018, he’ll reprise the iconic role of Michael Myers (AKA The Shape), and for good measure, we understand Blumhouse et al. have also added stunt performer and actor James Jude Courtney, who will presumably double as Castle/Myers when called upon.

And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, there’s also news that Halloween has recruited Christopher Nelson, the Oscar-winning make-up and VFX artist responsible for Suicide Squad, Deadpool, and the super-stylish Sin City.

Between them, David Gordon Green and co-writer Danny McBride have also promised a faithful, horror-oriented sequel that picks up exactly where the John Carpenter classic left off – albeit with some changes to the original’s ending. That means Green and Co. have chosen to retcon the entire Halloween saga, a decision which has left many of its alumni (see: Danielle Harris) bitterly disappointed.

Nevertheless, in the words of McBride, we should be “very, very scared,” as Michael Myers will be unleashed upon the hapless folks of Haddonfield when Halloween opens on October 19th, 2018.
