Wonder Woman 2 Will Be “Totally Different” Than The First, According To Patty Jenkins

Diana Prince’s second solo adventure will be “totally different” than the first, or so says writer-director Patty Jenkins.

Chatting to Entertainment Tonight (via Heroic Hollywood) at the ongoing Palm Springs Film Festival, the sought-after filmmaker, who is still riding high after a huge 2017, hinted that Wonder Woman 2 will take things in a radically different direction, all the while retaining those intimate character moments that made the original movie an instant classic.

It’s a tantalizing, if vague tease of what’s to come, but after Justice League missed the mark quite spectacularly, DC fans are already keeping one ear to the ground in anticipation of Wonder Woman 2.

We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us. It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do].

But will it carve out room for a Lynda Carter cameo? That was the question leading up to Wonder Woman‘s arrival in June of last year, and it turns out that at least for now, the song remains the same: Jenkins has no firm plans to welcome Carter back to the fray.

We’ll see. Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family. We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly—there’s no lack of trying.

Even if Wonder Woman 2 decides against a Lynda Carter cameo, the actress’ exuberance is clearly still a source of inspiration for Patty Jenkins and her leading star, Gal Gadot. They’ll reteam for the untitled DC sequel when WWII begins filming this summer ahead of a release on November 1st, 2019.
