Spider-Man Homecoming 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel Will Reportedly Begin Filming In June

Omega Underground brings word that Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will begin filming in June ahead of its release in 2019.

Perhaps more so than any other Marvel film before it, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 has been billed as something of a fresh start for the Marvel Cinematic Universe – hardly surprising, given it’s set to follow in the footsteps of a little-known sequel called Avengers 4.

It’ll still be anchored by Jon Watts and Tom Holland, though – director and title star respectively – the creative duo that helped engineer Homecoming into a box office monster, which, in truth, was no small feat, given their critically-acclaimed feature became the third Spider-Man reboot in little over a decade.

But now comes the hard part – composing the tricky second album. Rumors of the sequel’s villain have been circling for months now, but according to the folks at Omega Underground, it won’t be too much longer before ol’ Spidey is back in action, as Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will reportedly begin filming on June 1st.

Said to be operating under the working title “Fall of George,” OU’s sources claim that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will return to Berlin later this year, before production relocates to Atlanta – undoubtedly the MCU’s central hub, given the city has also played host to Captain Marvel, along with Joe and Anthony Russo’s forthcoming Avengers movies.

Story-wise, we’ve caught wind that the so-far untitled Homecoming 2 may carve out room for Gwen Stacy, the beloved fan-favorite originally portrayed by Emma Stone across Marc Webb’s ill-fated Spidey saga. Not only that, but rumor has it that Marvel may cast a non-American version of the iconic character.

Beyond Infinity War and its untitled sequel, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will rein the focus in on Peter Parker, who will seemingly supplant Tony Stark as the new figurehead of the MCU. Watch this space for more.
