New Supergirl Extended Promo Reveals First Look At Brainiac 5

If you’re one to follow the Arrowverse and tuned in for the recent midseason finales, then you’re well aware of how each of them left off on crazy cliffhangers that knocked us on our rears. Of course, Supergirl was the show that got the ball rolling, and it did so in brutal fashion.

If you’re one to follow the Arrowverse and tuned in for the recent midseason finales, then you’re well aware of how each of them left off on crazy cliffhangers that knocked us on our rears. Of course, Supergirl was the show that got the ball rolling, and it did so in brutal fashion.

Being the first series to come off the monumental crossover that was Crisis on Earth-X, it was important that the Maiden of Might had a strong showing – and that she did. Or at least, her TV show as an entity did, because Kara Zor-El herself was handed a beatdown like no other at the hands of Reign in a visceral battle that won’t be soon forgotten. And when you consider that Kara once bested her cousin, Superman, in a round of fisticuffs, that should give you an idea of just how formidable the Worldkiller truly is.

As a result, the Girl of Steel’s cohorts are going to have to make do without her for the time being, but we the viewers will come out on the winning end because this’ll yield the series debut of one of DC’s most enduring and beloved ensembles, the Legion of Super-Heroes. That’s right, with Reign running amok, it’ll lead the fan favorites from the 31st century to venture to the current era and I, for one, can’t wait to see what happens.

Speaking of which, the newly released extended promo for the midseason premiere has finally revealed something that us diehard comic book readers have been waiting to see: Brainiac 5! That’s right, the 12th-level intellect (played by Jesse Rath) can be seen in all of his glory right above. It’s also worth pointing out how this series is showcasing different members of the Legion – Brainiac 5, Mon-El and Saturn Girl – thus distingushing itself from what came before on Smallville, which is a nice touch.

For more, be sure to check out the official synopsis for “Legion of Super-Heroes” below:

MEET THE LEGION – Struggling to heal from her injuries inflicted by Reign (Odette Annable), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) remains in a dreamlike state, unable to be reached. Mon-El (Chris Wood) recruits one of the Legion members, Brainiac-5 (guest star Jesse Rath), to try to bring her back. Meanwhile, Reign continues her rampage on the city so the DEO teams up with the Legion of Superheroes to try to stop her. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Derek Simon & Eric Carrasco (#310). Original airdate 1/15/18.

Supergirl returns with new episodes on Monday, January 15 on The CW.
